Win: 2 - 0
Date: 10/20/2022 Location: Corry High School Regular Season Record (14W-0L)   Scores Corry Win (2-0) Set 1 W (25-12) Set 2 L (25-14)     CORRY JV TRAMPLED THE NORTH EAST GRAPE PICKERS IN 2 QUICK SETS   Corry JV easily took care of business in 2 sets on their home court against North East.  North East passed well at times, and they made most of their serves, but they had a tough time generating effective offense and defending against Corry attacks. Corry was able to quickly side out, never allowing North East to score more than one consecutive service point throughout the match.    Keys to Outcome & Coach’s Comments:   Set 1 saw Corry get out to a quick lead early in the set, and build on that lead through the end of the set.  Defensive specialist, Sydney Mineo, and setter Kendyll Chamberlin, had the longest serving runs.  Mineo served the final 5 points of the set and showed good poise behind the service line.  Very good free-ball passing, defense, and efficient hitting supported the serving runs.  Middle hitter Lindsey Hasbrouck had 3 kills on four attempts, and outside hitters, Emmalee Carr and Tori Kinney combined for 5 kills.  Defensively, libero Sydney Woods and Kinney each had 5 digs in the set.   In set 2, with all of the Corry freshmen in the lineup, the results were the same.  This time it was defensive specialist, Bailee McCray, who served North East off the court.  With a 17-10 lead, McCray served up a run of 5 including 3 aces.  Setter Brynley Watrous quarterbacked an effective offense, connecting with 4 different hitters for 12 kills and 12 assists.  Freshman right side hitter, Liz Colwell, had two kills and played good defense, contributing to the win.   Even though this was not our best outing when it came to passing in serve-receive, we were still getting swings on balls and keeping North East on their heels.  In every other phase of the game we out-played North East.  Energy and effort was good throughout the match.       Match Stats: Corry servers combined for 30 service points and 7 aces and were led by McCray (7SP and 4 aces), Mineo (7SP and 1 ace), and Chamberlin(5SP).  6 different hitters combined for 23 kills.  Hitting leaders were Kinney (8 kills), Hasbrouck (6 kills), and Carr (4 kills), Colwell and Sadye Dyne (2 kills each).   The team combined for 34 digs led by Kinney (10 digs), Woods (6 digs), and McCray (6 digs).   Chamberlin and Watrous had 11 and 12 assists respectively.       Our next opportunity to play is on Saturday morning and it is a tri-match against Harbor Creek and Franklin.

Date: 9/29/2022 Location: Meadville High School Regular Season Record (9W-0L)   Scores Corry Win (2-0) Set 1 L (25-14) Set 2 W (25-19)   CORRY JV WINS #9 AT MEADVILLE   Corry JV out served and out passed Meadville to get a win in 2 sets.  Meadville is a younger team with 9 freshman and a few sophomores.  They are athletic, but were out hustled by Corry in every phase of the game.   Keys to Outcome & Coach’s Comments: In set 1 Corry opened up the lead behind the tough serving of sophomore libero, Sydney Woods.  With the score tied at 4, Corry got a side-out and Woods served 5 consecutive points including 2 aces to give Corry a 10-4 lead.  Corry passing was nearly perfect, allowing 6 different hitters to each notch a kill.  Towards the end of the set, setter Kendyll Chamberlin also contributed at the service line with a run, totaling 6 service points in the set.   In set 2, the freshman / sophomore mixed lineup was a little more closely matched with Meadville, but still outplayed Meadville in all phases of the game.  In identical fashion to set 1, except a different Sydney at the line, freshman libero Sydney Mineo opened up the Corry lead with 5 consecutive service points including 2 aces.  Corry serving continued to dominate this set with Corry servers combining for 8 aces.  Outside hitter, Tori Kinney had 4 nearly perfect passes in serve-receive allowing us to run effective offense and quickly side out.  Outside hitter, Emmalee Carr, punctuated the win with a hard-hit crosscourt kill.    Match Stats: Corry servers combined for 15 aces in the match, the most in any two sets this season.  Woods had 9 service points and 4 aces, while Mineo and Chamberlin had 6 service points and 3 aces apiece.  Carr led the hitters with 3 kills, as 10 different Corry hitters combined for 15 kills. Carr also led the team with 5 digs, followed by Woods with 4, Kinney with 3, and Mineo with 3.  Brynley Watrous had 11 assists and Chamberlin had 4.   Overall, Corry played very well.  In set 2 there was were some break downs in the defense and communication that we will be working on in practice, but the coaching staff was pleased with the effort and attitudes throughout the match.   Our next match is at home against Girard on Wednesday.
