The beavers took on CASH for the first region game of the year. Although it was not the best showing for us, we were able to keep the lead right from about half way through the first quarter and throughout the rest of the game.
The spark for us tonight in the first half was Karson Chamberlin, who came up huge with 15 points. We needed his energy tonight there was no doubt about it. He really helped us get out to a lead and come with big play after big play on both sides of the ball. Tonight as a team I thought we weren't all in tonight. We had silly mistakes throughout the game and just made us look quite sloppy at times.
Markus Lambert was our steady hand for us offensively, he scored doubles figures in each half and ended the night with 23 points. He had some very timely shots in each quarter that helped spread things out. He only missed two shots on the night, and was very efficient from the floor.
Each half it felt like we would get to that comfortable lead and then we would have consecutive mistakes whether it was on defense or offense to get them back into the game.
Tonight, Kamdyn stole the show in the 4th quarter nailing 5 three point shots in the fourth quarter, and ending the game with 8 total three point baskets. The leader in that area would be Logan Joncas with 9 threes made in 2021-2022. At the end we really tried to feed him the ball, and he got several awesome looks, but they just didn't go in. With Moon's hot shooting he really helped seal the deal for us tonight, that I just thought was too close. Kamdyn ended up leading the way with 24 points on those 8 made three point field goals.
Rylan Smith led the way in three categories: 10 assists, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Tonight was a night that he was not feeling it on the offensive end, but it was good to see him really dish the ball well tonight. When you struggle, find different ways to help the team. I thought he did that tonight.
While we always expect consistently from Rylan and Markus, sometimes you just may not have it in you offensively .. like tonight. What I really enjoyed seeing was Karson and Kamdyn step up and lead that way in that category. I think that says a lot for the team, and how we pick each other up.
Tavon and Cameron continue to work extremely hard on the defensive side of the ball and they each got a bucket tonight. Albers continues to get in the game and get a few nice looks each game.
