Boys Varsity Basketball vs. Ft. Leboeuf HS

Game Date
Jan 4, 2024
Score
: 65
FT. LEBOEUF HS: 58

An overtime victory against Fort LeBoeuf for the Jay Rougeau Charity Night couldn’t have been anymore exciting for the fans who came out to support the team and the great cause!

Lambert was the guy tonight leading the way for the beavers with a season high 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Tonight was a battle, no team really led by more than 4 at anytime. We went back and forth all night long, which led to an overtime.

In the second half Rylan had a great third quarter scoring 12 points, which helped us tremendously. Rylan finished with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals,  and 4 assists. He has been really consistent for us the last 4-5 games scoring around that 20 point mark.

Right now Rylan and Markus have been quite the duo half way through the season, both averaging over 18 points per game.

Karson Chamberlin led us in rebounds tonight with 8. He also had a big three in the first quarter when we were struggling a little bit. He ended the night with 5 points and 3 assists as well. Karson big time defensive plays were key all game. He took 3 charges, and could have got 2 more. These types of things are game changes and momentum boosts for us.

In overtime, Markus got back to what he was doing in the first half and sealed the game up for us. He had 9 out of our 10 points. He started off overtime by hitting a big three, then went inside for a couple baskets, and then finished the game going 4-4 from the foul line. He had a pretty clutch overtime performance.

Kamdyn Moon finished the night with 9 points with a couple threes, a layup, and a foul shot in overtime.

Tavon Kornikoski and Cameron Ricketts are really doing a nice job on the defensive end and sparking us with some clutch steals and stops. They have also made a few timely shots for us throughout the season.

Tonight was a great win, but still a little messy at times. Specifically tonight at the end of the game turning over the ball of shooting contested shots when we didn’t need them. We had time on our side and the lead, so we wanted to waist clock and take high percentage shots. Learning moments for sure, and we have a lot of room to improve in areas like that.

We again had 10 three point field goals, which is quite draining for the opposing team. We went 9-13 from the foul line and were missing foul shots early, but when it came down to the end of the game we knocked them down.

We do not play again until next Wednesday at Northwestern.
