Lose: 21 - 36
The Corry high school girls team defeated host Seneca 26-29 to improve to 7-0 and secure their third straight region title. I am really happy that the girls were able to pull out the win today. The course had huge puddles, was muddy, had uneven footing, and it was windy and cool, but they persevered as a team through the tough conditions and should be proud of their regular season accomplishments. Sophomore Jordan Fox won with a time of 21:56 to go undefeated in the region, which guarantees her receiving a second straight region 4 runner of the year award. Jordan ran well today despite not feeling great. She is a great person and a true champion. Haeleigh Bayle battled hard and finished in 4th with a time of 22:50. Camryn Fox (5th, 23:22), Teya Bailey (7th, 23:50), and Teryn Bailey (9th, 24:18) rounded out the scoring for the girls team. The high school boys team won 21-36 and improved to 5-2 thanks to an awesome effort from the dominant trio of Fabian Fourspring (1st, 18:15), Stephen Brady (2nd, 18:32), and Tony Kerr (3rd, 18:35). Tavon Kornikoski (6th, 19:46), Judah Zinz (9th, 20:15), and Brandon Jackson (10th, 20:15) also ran well and earned top ten finishes. The boys team had a great season. We had a one point loss to perennial powerhouse North East and a loss to the senior laden Harbor Creek team. They responded well to the adversity of losing one of their top runners early in the season and finished it out strong today. I'm excited about the younger guys who are starting to cut the gap to our top runners. We also had sophomore Roo Hellyer (11th, 20:17) and freshman Ethan Behm (12th, 20:26) in the mix today. Both Corry middle school teams improved to 7-0 with 15-50 victories over Seneca to claim region titles. Chloe Jaworski won again with a time of 11:11. Chloe has the rare combination of being really talented while also being very scrappy and competitive. We are really excited about how well she is progressing and can't wait to see how she competes in the championship season. Finley Fourspring (2nd, 11:27), Laikynn Bayle (4th, 11:42), Lauren Brundage (6th, 12:21), and Makenna Williams (7th, 12:53) were the other scorers for the region champs. The boys middle school team was led by strong races from Paxton Zinz (2nd, 10:00), Landon Atha (3rd, 10:12), and Weston Atha (4th, 10:22). Aaron Davis (7th, 11:50) and Bryce Chelton (8th, 11:52) sealed the victory for the Beavers. I am so proud of our athletes and impressed with how well they managed this difficult dual meet schedule. The combined region record for our four teams was 26 - 2 for the season! The Corry XC teams will next compete at the Northwest PA Championship race on Saturday 10/22 at the Harbor Creek Community Park.

Lose: 0 - 0
Stephen Brady won the Dirty Dawg Invitational on Saturday with a personal best time of 17:20. Stephen ran incredibly well today. He started around 5th overall at the half mile and then really took over the race. It was the strongest and most confident I have ever seen him during a race. The boys team took 3rd out of 16 teams and many of them ran personal best times. Tony Kerr (17:35, 5th), Tavon Kornikoski (18:09, 16th), Judah Zinz (19:06, 27th), Roo Hellyer (19:23, 35th), Brandon Jackson (19:32, 38th), and Ethan Behm (19:54, 46th) were the other varsity runners for the Beavers. The girls varsity team took 3rd out of 15 teams and were led by Jordan Fox who finished in 4th place with a time of 20:42. Haeleigh Bayle (22:06, 18th), Shay Linden (22:59, 29th), Teya Bailey (23:09, 31st), Gwen Adams (24:34, 45th), Teryn Bailey (24:42, 45th), and Addie Pillar (25:26, 55th) all ran well in the cool conditions. The girls middle school team won their second invitational of the year edging out Fort Leboeuf by three points. Chloe Jaworski led the way once again with an 8th place finish in 14:41. Laikynn Bayle (15:00, 10th) and Finley Fourspring (15:14, 16th) both had phenomenal races as well. Lauren Brundage (15:26, 19th) and Cora Bowen (17:03, 47th) rounded out the scoring for the team. Paxton Zinz (13:00, 7th) and Bryce Chelton (14:44, 40th) performed well in the middle school boys race. Camryn Fox won the JV race in 23:35. It was great having Camryn back on the course. She has been battling a pretty serious injury but she ran a great first race of the season. Pierce Sutton won the JV boys race in 19:41 and teammate Will Boucher also ran well finishing 4th in 19:46. We had a lot of solid performances today and are looking forward to our dual meet on Friday against Seneca. Our high school girls team and both middle school teams will be running for region titles against Seneca.

Win: 35 - 21
The Corry high school girls cross country team improved to a perfect 6-0 with a 22-36 victory over Harbor Creek on Tuesday. Jordan Fox remained undefeated in the region with a victory in a time of 20:30. Jordan put in the work over the summer and it is really showing. She has run consistently well in all of the dual meets and is only one win away from being named region runner of the year for the 2nd year in a row. Haeleigh Bayle (3rd, 22:05), Shay Linden (5th, 23:31), Teya Bailey (6th, 24:03), and Gwen Adams (7th, 24:41) were the other scorers for the team. Sophomore Teryn Bailey also cracked the top ten with an 8th place finish in 24:43. The high school boys team dropped to 4-2 with a loss to a tough, senior laden Harbor Creek squad. Stephen Brady (3rd, 17:38) and Tony Kerr (4th, 17:40) ran well to pace the Beavers. Tavon Kornikoski (7th, 18:38), Brandon Jackson (10th, 19:46), and Ethan Behm (14th, 20:05) rounded out the scoring for the boys team. Both middle school teams improved to 6-0 in the region with the girls winning 26-29 and the boys winning 23-32. Harbor Creek consistently has one of the best programs in the area, so I'm really proud of how well our middle school athletes competed today. Chloe Jaworski continued her stellar season with a victory in 14:41. The trio of Finley Fourspring (4th, 14:57), Laikynn Bayle (5th, 15:10), and Lauren Brundage (6th, 15:27) packed up nicely and ran well on the two mile course. Newcomer Makenna Williams sealed the victory for the Beavers as she finished in 10th place with an impressive time of 16:33. I have really enjoyed watching this team compete, because we have different athletes stepping up big for the team each race. Lauren Brundage and Julia Brenner helped seal the victory on Saturday and then Makenna really came up big for us today. The boys middle school team remained unbeaten as a result of another strong race from the outstanding trio of Paxton Zinz (1st, 13:21), Landon Atha (2nd, 13:42), and Weston Atha (3rd, 13:53). Bryce Chelton had a great day for the Beavers as well finishing in 7th place with a 15:12. Aaron Davis was the final scorer with a 10th place finish in 16:07. The Corry XC teams next compete back at Harbor Creek on Saturday in the Dirty Dawg Invitational.

The Corry varsity cross country teams competed in Hershey on Saturday at the PIAA Foundation Meet. The boys team finished 13th out of 39 complete teams and were led by the duo of Stephen Brady (18:05, 63rd) and Fabian Fourspring (18:09, 68th). Our top two guys were aggressive at the start and fought hard on the tough, hilly state course. Tony Kerr (18:35, 83rd), Tavon Kornikoski (19:04, 107th) and Brandon Jackson (20:15, 190th) rounded out the scoring for the team. I was really proud of how well Brandon ran considering he is a freshman and was running on this course for the first time. Our boys team needs a few of the young guys to step up and cut down the gap from our fourth to our fifth runner, and Brandon showed that he is up for the challenge. Sophomore Judah Zinz and Roo Hellyer also ran well at the meet. The girls team finished 14th out of 29 complete teams. The girls have definitely been a little worn out with six races in a three week span, but they fought hard and gave it their best on the challenging course. Jordan Fox (21:40, 53rd), Haeleigh Bayle (22:34, 86th), Shay Linden (23:27, 115th), Teya Bailey (23:37, 122nd), and Teryn Bailey (24:26, 153rd) were the top five scorers for the Beavers. Teya really stepped up big and had a phenomenal race. We’re looking forward to less races over the next month and more opportunities to train hard and improve from our workouts before the championship season. The Corry teams next compete against Seneca on Tuesday at Seneca High School.

Lose: 18 - 43
The Corry high school girls team improved to 5-0 in the region with a 15-50 victory over host Union City. Union City has chosen to make the distance for their home region meets shorter, so the high school course was 3000 meters and the middle school course was 2000 meters. Jordan Fox once again led the way with a victory in a time of 12:08. Haeleigh Bayle (3rd, 12:38), Shay Linden (4th, 13:28), Teryn Bailey (5th, 13:37), and Teya Bailey (7th, 13:54) rounded out the scoring for the team. On the boys side, the Beavers improved to 4-1 in the region with an 18-43 victory over the Bears. Stephen Brady took the victory in a blazing time of 10:17 slightly outdistancing teammate Fabian Fourspring who finished in 10:18. Tony Kerr (3rd, 10:35), Tavon Kornikoski (5th, 10:40), and Will Boucher (7th, 11:38) were the other scorers for the high school boys team. Both Corry middle school teams improved to 5-0 in the region. The boys fought hard against a solid Union City team and won 23-33. Paxton Zinz won with a solid time of 7:50. Weston Atha (3rd, 8:29) and Landon Atha (4th, 8:33) ran well to help seal the victory. Brock Anthony (7th, 9:32) and Bryce Chelton (8th, 9:35) rounded out the top 5. The middle school girls won 15 - 50 and were led by an amazing effort from Chloe Jaworski who won in a time of 9:20. Weston Atha had a really strong race as well finishing in 2nd in 9:58. Landon Atha (4th, 10:35), Bryce Chelton (6th, 12:02), and Brock Anthony (7th, 12:08) rounded out the scoring. The girls won 15-50 behind strong efforts from Chloe Jaworski (1st, 11:06), Finley Fourspring (2nd, 11:20), Laikynn Bayle (3rd, 11:28), Zoey Higby (4th, 12:51), and Cora Bowen (5th, 12:56). I am really proud of how well the kids ran today considering this was their fourth race in a nine day stretch. Almost all of the middle school athletes ran their best time of the season, and we are really excited about their strong start to the season! The Corry XC team will next be in action on Tuesday 9/20 at Union City High School. The Corry XC team will also be hosting their annual Soup and Salad fundraiser dinner on Friday September 16 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm in the high school cafeteria prior to the home football game against Harbor Creek.

The Corry XC teams swept visiting Warren on Tuesday. The high school boys team improved to 2-1 with a dominant 15-49 victory over the Dragons. Win: 28 - 27
The Corry XC teams kicked off their region slate with a home race against North East. The high school girls team easily out-distanced North East by a score of 18-40. Haeleigh Bayle finished second in 23:28, Teya Bailey was 4th in 25:26, Shay Linden was 5th in 25:38, and Gwen Adams rounded out the scoring with a 6th place finish in 26:33. Addie Pillar was a solid 6th runner for the Beavers finishing in 9th place in 27:24. The high school boys team lost a tough one to perennial powerhouse North East 28-27. I am really proud of this group of boys. Their goal for the last 10 months has been to beat North East and go for the region title, and they almost got the job done. Stephen Brady (3rd, 18:51), Tavon Kornikoski (4th, 19:09), Fabian Fourspring (5th, 19:14), and Tony Kerr (6th, 19:17) ran great times for our course and gave the team a fighting chance. Roo Hellyer (10th, 20:59) and Ethan Behm (12th, 21:01) also ran well. The middle school girls team started the season 1-0 with a solid 19-36 victory. Lose: 0 - 0
The Corry XC teams kicked off the season Saturday at the Hornet Harrier Invitational hosted by Hickory. The high school girls team narrowly missed winning the race for a second straight year as they lost by four points to Hickory and finished 2nd out of 13 teams. Jordan Fox (7th, 21:08) and Haeleigh Bayle (9th, 21:22) led the way for the Beavers. Freshman Shay Linden had a phenomenal start to her high school career with a 14th place finish in 22:29. Shay has proven she’s willing to be aggressive and fight hard the entire race. These traits are rare for runners in general but especially for freshman who are making the jump in distance to 5k. Seniors Teya Bailey (22nd, 22:52) and Gwen Adams (28th, 23:39) rounded out the scoring for the team. Teryn Bailey finished 29th in 23:39 and Addie Pillar had a huge personal best time of 25:06 which placed her 42nd. The high school boys team finished 4th out of 13 teams. Fabian Fourspring (10th, 17:26), Tavon Kornikoski (14th, 17:48), and Tony Kerr (19th, 18:16) ran well and did a great job leadership wise as the boys team was missing a few of its top runners with one quitting on Friday and one not making it to the meet. I’m really proud of the boys focusing and starting the year off so well considering the drama they have been dealing with. Brandon Jackson (38th, 19:34) and Roo Hellyer (42nd, 19:40) stepped up big for the Beavers to round out the team score. Freshman Ethan Behm was one of the highlight performers on the day with a 43rd place finish in 19:40. Ethan has improved so much from his middle school years and stepped up big time today! Will Boucher finished 60th in 20:54. In the JV race, Farrah Fourspring took 4th place in 26:37 and Noah West absolutely smashed his personal best time ever finishing 7th in 22:23 which was a four minute improvement compared to his time at Hickory last year. Bryce Chelton was our only competitor in the boys middle school race and he finished in 44th with a time of 12:33. Bryce ran approximately two minutes faster than last year and showed how running those miles in the summer can really help. The girls middle school team finished 3rd out of 14 teams and were led by the trio of Chloe Jaworski (4th, 11:18), Laikynn Bayle (7th, 11:48) and Finley Fourspring (12th, 12:02). Chloe has had a few really impressive practices and it was awesome to watch her perform so incredibly well in her first middle school meet. Zoe Higby (33rd, 13:47) and Cora Bowen (42nd, 15:15) also ran strong. The Corry teams next host North East on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
