The Corry junior high cross country teams capped off an impressive season with a strong finish at the District meet hosted by Union City on Wednesday. The boys and girls teams both went a perfect 7-0 in the region during the regular season. The girls finished 3rd out of 31 teams in the District and the team consists of only 7th graders. This is truly unprecedented for such a young team to finish so high at the District Meet. We are ecstatic to see how well they train in the off-season and continue to mature and grow as runners. Finley Fourspring led the way and had an amazing finish to the race to earn a 22nd place finish in 12:55. Teammates Laikynn Bayle (25th, 12:58) and Chloe Jaworski (26th, 12:59) crossed the line almost simultaneously to give the Beavers a solid top three. Lauren Brundage (38th, 13:33) amd Makenna Williams (61st, 14:10) both joined the team well into the season and still finished strong when it mattered the most at Districts. Cora Bowen (97th, 15:10) and Paeyton Gilliland (113th, 15:51) rounded out the top seven.  The boys team finished 8th out of 32 teams. Paxton Zinz finished off a stellar season with a 15th place finish out of 198 runners with a time of 11:14. Weston Atha also medaled with a 19th place finish in 11:31. Landon Atha has unfortunately battled illness for a week now but still managed a 69th place finish in 12:34. Bryce Chelton made a huge improvement from last year and finished in 91st place with a time of 13:02. Aaron Davis rounded out the scoring for the boys with a 115th place finish in 13:32. Coach Fox and I really enjoyed coaching the junior high teams this year. We are really proud of them for all they accomplished as a team and individually and appreciate all of the hard work they put in! The Corry high school teams will compete at the PIAA District X meet in Titusville on Saturday.
