The Corry Beavers JV football team travelled to Edinboro on Saturday to take on the General McLane Lancers. The Lancers came away with a 20-6 win. 

The entire game was a defensive battle with both teams' offenses struggling to move the football. General McLane's defense actually scored the first points of the game, with an interception return for a touchdown. The first quarter ended with McLane leading 6-0. The Lancers were able to add to their lead in the second quarter. A breakdown in coverage cost the Beavers six points and the two point conversion, with the Lancers taking a 14-0 lead into the locker room at the half. General McLane scored again in the 3rd quarter to take a 20-0 lead. Corry finished the scoring, with a 3 yard TD run by Frankie Barr. The touchdown capped off an impressive 98 yard drive. Unable to convert on the two point conversion, Corry wrapped up the scoring, with the final score coming in at 20-6.

Frankie Barr led the Beaver offense with 43 yards rushing, while Lucas Baker added 22 yards as well. Gabe Scouten and Keaton Frisina both had 32 yards receiving. Baker and Marcus Meredith combined for 82 yards passing at QB.

On defense, Noah Fisher had 8 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and an interception. Landon Bowen kicked in 7 tackles, while Scouten, Greyson Linkerhof, Gavin Maleski, and Nate Weis all had a tackle for loss.

Without the big mistakes (the pick-six INT and the long TD pass on a blown coverage), the score would be 6-6. We are a decent football team. We will be a good one when we eliminate the mistakes we are presently making.

The loss drops the Corry JV team to 2-3 on the season. Their next game is home at Sheen Field against the Fairview Tigers.
