The Corry XC teams kicked off their region slate with a home race against North East.  The high school girls team easily out-distanced North East by a score of 18-40.  Jordan Fox won the meet with a solid time of 22:12 on the tough and muddy Corry course.  Haeleigh Bayle finished second in 23:28, Teya Bailey was 4th in 25:26, Shay Linden was 5th in 25:38, and Gwen Adams rounded out the scoring with a 6th place finish in 26:33.  Addie Pillar was a solid 6th runner for the Beavers finishing in 9th place in 27:24.  The high school boys team lost a tough one to perennial powerhouse North East 28-27.  I am really proud of this group of boys.  Their goal for the last 10 months has been to beat North East and go for the region title, and they almost got the job done.  Stephen Brady (3rd, 18:51), Tavon Kornikoski (4th, 19:09), Fabian Fourspring (5th, 19:14), and Tony Kerr (6th, 19:17) ran great times for our course and gave the team a fighting chance.  Roo Hellyer (10th, 20:59) and Ethan Behm (12th, 21:01) also ran well.  The middle school girls team started the season 1-0 with a solid 19-36 victory.  The trio of Finley Fourspring (1st, 11:32), Laikynn Bayle (2nd, 11:44), and Chloe Jaworski (3rd, 11:56) set the stage for the dominant victory.  Zoe Higby (6th, 13:52) and Cora Bowen (7th, 13:55) ran great races to help seal the victory.  The boys middle school team also started 1-0 with a stunning 29-30 victory over North East.  Paxton Zinz (1st, 10:25), Weston Atha (2nd, 10:39), and Landon Atha (3rd, 10:49) ran hard and guaranteed a Beaver victory with the 1,2,3 finish.  Bryce Chelton (11th, 12:40) and Aaron Davis (13th, 14:34) were the other scorers.  The Corry teams next take on Eisenhower on Friday at Eisenhower High School.
