Corry traveled to Northwestern Friday for the annual Northwestern Tip-off Tournament. Corry had the first Varsity game against Conneaut. Corry started out strong behind senior Halle Alber's hot hand. Albers drained three 3s while Rylee Nickerson and Grace Allen had 2 pts each to put Corry up 13-7 at the end of quarter 1.

Albers continued her sharp shooting by scoring 5 pts in quarter 2 while Haley Mumau and Regan Kemp netted 2 pts apiece. Corry headed into halftime up 22-14. 

Corry's offense cooled in the second half with Mumau and Nickerson scoring 4 pts each and Kaygen Rogers netting 2 pts. It proved to be enough, though with Corry winning its first game of the season, 32-26.

I was pleased with how we played, especially considering we haven't practiced since Monday. Our team defense was strong. Though we have a lot of areas we can improve on, it was a nice start to our season.

Albers finished with a team high 14 pts followed by Mumau and Nickerson with 6 pts each. Allen, Rogers, and Kemp had 2 pts each. Mumau led us on the boards with 9 rebounds followed closely behind by Sadye Dyne and Nickerson with 8 boards each.  Allen finished with 7 rebounds and Rogers with 4 rebounds. Mumau dished out 4 assists while Albers, Dyne, and Nickerson had 2 assists each. Allen finished with 3 steals, Nickerson had 2 steals, and Albers, Dyne, and Mumau had 1 steal each.
