Corry: 3-11-6-4----24

Northwestern: 14-9-10-7----40

Corry squared off against Northwestern in the Championship game of the Northwestern Tip-off Tournament Saturday. Northwestern jumped out to an early 14-3 lead after quarter one. Corry fought back in the second to cut the deficit to 9, heading into halftime down 14-23. Corry continued battling in the second half but ended up losing 24-40.

Stand out junior and MVP of the tournament, Makayla Presser-Palmer of Northwestern, scored a game-high 25 pts.

This was a good learning experience for us. Makayla is the real deal and a future Division 1 athlete. I know Allen and Nickerson had the challenging task of guarding her. Both did well in slowing her down and in the process gained valuable experience.

Leading the way for Corry was Haley Mumau with 7 pts and 1 assist followed by Rylee Nickerson with 6 pts. Sadye Dyne finished with 4 pts, Halle Albers with 3 pts and 1 assist, Grace Allen with 2 pts and 2 assists, Madi Leofsky with 2 pts, and Kaygen Rogers and Regan Kemp with 1 assist each. Nickerson led the team in rebounds with 9 followed by Dyne with 8. Allen, Mumau, and Kemp had 2 rebounds each while Albers, Rogers, and Reagan Porter had 1 rebound each.

Corry finished 2nd in the tournament. Seniors, Halle Albers and Sadye Dyne, were named to the all-tournament team.
