Free throws and timely turnovers down the stretch were costly for the beavers as they lost their first game of the season 61-67.

The Beaver Dam was electric and both teams played with great energy and physicality. Unfortunately Nevin Stinson and the Oilers went home with a hard fought victory behind his 32 points. Our goal coming into the game was to concentrate on him, and make the rest of the team do more of the scoring. Unfortunately we did not execute as well as we hoped allowing him off to come off screens and split our double teams.

With our pressure that we put on other teams there is no doubt we can be a pretty dangerous team, but games like this come down to the little things and those things were done better by Oil City tonight.

Again, we had three guys in double digits with a couple others very close. Tonight Deane and Trask led the way with 16 a piece, Frisina had 11, Moon had 8, and Scouten had 6.

Deane no doubt had his best game of the season leading in 3 other categories tonight with 9 rebounds, 5 steals, & 4 assists. Unfortunately he got into foul trouble and had to sit too much in the second half.

Frisina had a heck of a first half, but then also got himself into foul trouble, which really limited his play in the second half eventually fouling out.

A positive is that we responded to their runs offensively, but then we seem to follow up with a couple turnovers in a row that were very timely and hurt the momentum.

We went 14-23 from the foul line and 1 for 20 from the three point line which is a huge issue in close games when we are a pretty good shooting team.

Again we had great play and energy from all of our players and great minutes from players off the bench in which we played 9 tonight. This game makes us angry and our drive to do big things is there, which is a great sign of a good team.

The team now goes on a week break with no game until Dec 26th, which is our Jim Gruca Christmas Tournament. We are all amped and ready to get back in the gym to prepare.
