CONNEAUT AREA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 61
The Corry Boys Basketball Team faced off against the Conneaut Eagles on Tuesday night for the first region game of the year in the Beaver Dam, and came out with a 77 to 61 victory. We took off right away by scoring 26 points in the first quarter. Leading the way was Moon with 10 points, Scouten with 8, Trask with 6, and Fisina with 2. The Eagles struggled with pressure in the first quarter, but were able to score 10 points led by Alex Wilpula who scored 8 points.
The beavers led by a double digit margin most of the game, but CASH was able to come up with runs to shrink the lead. I thought we did a nice job responding all night. Our bench allowed us to apply pressure at max capacity and run our offense efficiently. Tonight was a true team effort and a testament to how deep we are off the bench with Baker, Vanchieri, Atha, Canady, and Kent. Tonight felt like a true region game, where no matter the margin I felt like we were in a game.
We had three guys in double digits scoring: Moon with 19, Scouten with 18, Trask with 14. We then had several guys very close to double digits: Deane with 9, Frisina with 8, Vanchieri with 7. This season has been fun in regard to scoring the basketball and many guys involved.
Moon, Frisina, and Moon all had 4 assists a piece. Trask and Vanchieri led the rebounding category with 6 apiece, Moon had 5, Frisina had 3, and Scouten had 3. As a team we stayed under our turnover goal with 9 and took care of the ball well, but went 10-16 from the foul line.
Moon led the way in the 3 point category with 5, and Scouten was right behind him with 4.
Tomorrow we play at home against a tough Oil City Team.
